voucherfig is an independent, free reference for estimating the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) subsidy — the part of rent HUD and your local Public Housing Agency (PHA) help cover. Every calculator is built on official U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) FY2026 Fair Market Rent and income-limit data.
Who runs voucherfig
voucherfig is an independent editorial research project maintained by the voucherfig research team. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by HUD, any Public Housing Agency, or any government body — and we do not process applications or determine eligibility. The team is responsible for every page, figure, and tool on this site.
Our data & method
Figures derive from the HUD FY2026 Fair Market Rent County Level Data (revised; effective 2026-05-21), the voucher payment-standard rules at 24 CFR § 982, and the HUD Occupancy Handbook (HUD Handbook 7420.10). Each tool page shows the data it uses and a retrieval date. Numbers are refreshed at least annually and whenever HUD revises its datasets. HUD data is a U.S. federal government work in the public domain.
What we are not
We are not HUD, a PHA, a housing counselor, or a legal or financial advisor. A calculator estimate is not an approval, a waitlist position, or a guarantee of assistance. Your local PHA sets the final payment standard, income limit, and eligibility and makes all determinations. Always confirm figures with your PHA or a HUD-approved housing counselor before relying on them.
How we are funded
voucherfig is free to use and ad-supported. The calculators and guides are never paywalled, and advertising does not change the formulas or the numbers.
